Community Involvement

Team Connor

Team Connor is a non profit organization that raises awareness about childhood cancer, as well as raises money for childhood cancer research. The organization was started in honor of Connor Cruse, a young boy who was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma at the age of 4. Connor was an inspiration to many, and never gave up, but sadly Connor lost his four-year battle with cancer on July 10, 2009. Team Connor was started by Connor's parents, Joy and Tait Cruse. Their expierience with Connor's battle with cancer inspired them to raise awareness about childhood cancer in order to prevent children to have to face what Connor had to face.

Over the past several years, TeamConnor has raised $1 million in its mission to find cures for childhood cancers. And the fight continues. All because of one inspirational little boy with a warrior’s heart.

Jack McGrael 60 year Celebration

In this age when people seem to have little loyalty to the company for which they work, and companies seem more focused on the bottom line than building relationships, it is extremely rare to find someone who has worked for the same company for more than 50 years. Jack McGrael of Allen is celebrating 60 years with Northwestern Mutual. And he has no intentions of retiring anytime soon. Jack currently works under Hugh McFadden and this event was put on to recognize Jack's hard work and faithfulness to the Company.

His advice to youth today: “Focus on what you enjoy, and build relationships with people you like and trust. If you find yourself working someplace you really don’t like, then move on. But I always liked the people with whom I was working. And I’ve made a very good living in this industry.”

The event was a great success and a wonderful testament to the conpany of Northwestern Mutual.
